Single Sign-On (SSO) lets your students and teachers access SAM Studio with the same credentials they already use every day — no extra passwords to remember or reset. SAM Studio supports four SSO providers to fit the identity management systems most schools already have in place.

Supported SSO providers

Google Workspace for Education

Sign in with school Google accounts. Works out of the box for any school on Google Workspace — no district-level setup required.

Microsoft 365

Sign in with school Microsoft accounts. Works out of the box for schools using Microsoft 365 or Azure Active Directory.

Clever

District-level rostering and SSO integration. Requires a one-time setup with your SAM Labs Customer Success representative.

ClassLink

District-level rostering and SSO integration. Requires a one-time setup with your SAM Labs Customer Success representative.

How Google SSO works

Google SSO is available to any school that uses Google Workspace for Education. There is no configuration required at the teacher or student level — users simply click a button on the login screen.
1

User visits the login page

The teacher or student navigates to studio.samlabs.com.
2

User clicks Sign in with Google

They click Sign in with Google and select their school Google account.
3

Account is created automatically

If this is their first time signing in, SAM Studio creates their account automatically using the information from their Google profile. No invitation email or manual setup is needed.
4

User lands on their dashboard

The user is signed in and taken directly to their SAM Studio dashboard.
Students must use their school-issued Google account, not a personal Gmail account. This ensures their work stays within your district’s managed environment.

How Microsoft SSO works

Microsoft SSO follows the same pattern as Google SSO and works with any school using Microsoft 365 or Azure Active Directory.
1

User visits the login page

The teacher or student navigates to studio.samlabs.com.
2

User clicks Sign in with Microsoft

They click Sign in with Microsoft and authenticate with their school Microsoft credentials.
3

Account is created automatically

If this is their first time signing in, SAM Studio creates their account automatically. No manual invitation is needed.
4

User lands on their dashboard

The user is signed in and taken directly to their SAM Studio dashboard.
Clever and ClassLink are district-level integrations that handle both SSO and automatic rostering. Once connected, your rosters sync automatically and students can sign in through the Clever or ClassLink portal without ever visiting the SAM Studio login page directly. Because these integrations require configuration on both the district side and the SAM Labs side, they are set up by your SAM Labs Customer Success representative.
1

Contact your Customer Success representative

Email [email protected] to request a Clever or ClassLink integration. Include your district name and the name of your Clever or ClassLink administrator.
2

SAM Labs configures the integration

Your Customer Success rep works with you and your district IT team to complete the connection. This typically takes one to three business days.
3

Rosters sync automatically

Once the integration is active, your student and teacher rosters sync automatically from Clever or ClassLink. Any changes you make in your SIS are reflected in SAM Studio within 24 hours.
4

Users sign in through the portal

Students and teachers sign in through their existing Clever or ClassLink portal. SAM Studio appears as a tile — no separate login is required.
If your district already uses Clever or ClassLink for other ed-tech tools, setting up the SAM Studio integration is straightforward. Your district’s Clever or ClassLink administrator can often complete the connection in under an hour.

Benefits of SSO

  • No separate passwords — students and teachers log in with credentials they already know.
  • Automatic account creation — new users get a SAM Studio account the first time they sign in, with no manual provisioning required.
  • Ties into school identity management — when a student leaves the district, their access to SAM Studio is automatically revoked when their school account is deactivated.
  • Faster logins in the classroom — less time troubleshooting forgotten passwords means more time learning.

Privacy and compliance

SAM Studio’s SSO integrations are designed to support COPPA and FERPA compliance. Student data is not shared with third-party advertising networks, and SAM Labs processes student information only as directed by the school or district. For details, see the SAM Labs Privacy Policy or contact [email protected].
If your district has specific data processing agreements (DPAs) in place, contact [email protected] before enabling SSO to confirm that all agreements are current.
